Christmas Festival

Hello Everyone,

Well here it is the package for the Christmas Festival proudly promoted by Taekwondo Qld. all the information is there so have a good read and I will answer any questions you may have on Monday.

This is a great opportunity for all novices to have a go as this tournament is about having fun and a little competition as well. It is being held as Brendale Sports Complex so it is close and the entry fee is only $15.00 per student if you go in more than one event it will cost more of cause.

P.S. Remember everyone who is grading in December will need to compete in this tournament in order to receive an extra 10 points towards their score for their grading results.

Training Schedule over the September School Holidays

Hello all,

Due to our reduced class sizes over the September school holidays,  training times will be as follows,

Wednesday 26th September - No Dragonflies, Scorpions and Warriors Combined at 6pm-7pm

Saturday 29th September - No training (Australian Nationals)

Monday 1st October - No Dragonflies, Scorpions 6pm-7pm, and Warriors 6pm-8pm

Wednesday, 3rd October - No Dragonflies, Scorpions and Warriors Combined at 6pm-7pm

Members Area electronic syllabus

Hi all,

Our new electronic syllabus is now available to all club members in the members area of our website, Currently covering "Beginners" to "Cho Dan Bo". If you were, for example currently a Yellow Three, advancing to a Blue belt, you would click on the "Blue 1" syllabus. Each of these pages also have links to pre-existing training pages that go into more depth for your taegeuk patterns, one step sparring, and contain other embedded videos to help give your home training more context for what you're learning in class.  Black belt resources are coming (soon)..

The high res photos from Saturday's belt grading is now available in the members area of our website for viewing and downloading.  To save a photo, click on the desired thumbnail, and when the full res image has finished loading, simply right click and choose the "save image as.." option to save it on your to your PC. If you're using a Mac, well.... you're on your own.

Our September belt grading is nearly upon us! I will be letting everyone know shortly whether you will be grading on the 8th of September.  There is a printable pdf of the September 2012 grading form in the members area of our website, visible at the top of the members homepage, so as soon as you know if you're grading, please complete and return asap.

As always if you're not grading, remember you can come and participate on the day to get some valuable experience, or just to watch and support your fellow club members.

Hi Guys due to the QLD State selections this Saturday 21st July there will be NO training.
So if you have a couple of hours spare come down to Boondall Indoor sports centre the tournament starts at 9.00am.

STATE TRAINING

Sunday June 3 – usual format – poomsae 12-2 and sparring 1-4!  This event remains open to participation of members and non-members alike.

Sunday July 1

Sunday August 12 State Training is a full day workshop including photos of the Nationals Squad and Team Qld – format to be released shortly.

Sunday September 9

COACH ACCREDITATION COURSE

Also Sunday June 3 at Brendale – bookings essential by Thursday 31 May (book by phone to 3325 0921 or email to info@tkdqld.com).  Application forms are available on TA website www.taekwondoaustralia.com.au on the ‘Coach’ and ‘Download’ pages.

NORTH QLD GAMES

Sunday June 24 in Townsville – come and pay in the warm Nth Qld weather!  Entries going better and expected.  This event is open to members, WTF styled non-members and non-WTF clubs and involves sparring, poomsae and breaking.

A TECHNICAL SEMINAR will also be conducted in conjunction with the NQ Games and this will be on Saturday 23^rd.

REFEREE SEMINAR

There will be a referee seminar at Brendale on Sunday July 1 – more info soon.

TECHNICAL SEMINAR

The next Brisbane Technical Seminar will be at Brendale on Sunday July 8.

SELECTIONS

Qld Selection Championships for the TA Nationals Squad will be on July 21/22 at Boondall – athletes wishing to participate in Nationals MUST attend and compete.

INTERSTATE COMPETITIONS

VIC championships for sparring are on June 3

NSW championships are on August 4/5

Team Qld members are reminded that their entry fees at these interstate competitions can be rebated via the State Office – please bring your receipt or entry confirmation to State Training.

TOURNAMENTS

Brisbane Invitational 2012 (Refer Russell Macarthur for details) scheduled for Saturday 11 August

Yun Hap Taekwondo Competition is planned for 26 August – more info shortly

Pan Pacific MASTERS Games – November 3 and 4

NATIONALS

TA National Championships are in Sydney 27-30 September and we expect more information about the event and divisions shortly.

Just a quick reminder to all parents and students - as of today, the new Monday class times are in effect for the Dragonflies and Scorpions - the Warriors are at the previous times...

    4:30-5:00pm - Dragonflies
    5:00-6:00pm - Scorpions
    6:30-8:00pm - Warriors.

Hello again, and so the saga continues! The hall still will not be available for use on Monday night and it will be too dark to train in the park, there will be no training Monday.
Wednesday is good news the council has moved their meeting to allow us to have at least one training session so all is ago for Wednesday NORMAL times.

Gr8 start to the Year.

We have had a great start to the year. Even some of the Scorpions are so eager to get going they are turning up to Saturday training, to you guys so sorry I was not there for you. Don't despair Saturday training WILL be starting as soon as the hall is ready!
However the Narangba hall is going well much hotter than Burpengary, I gotta say but much bigger though.
So for those looking for something to do come back a little earlier you will be sooooo glad you did(hee, lol ;-)
